About Our Program

The Integral Yoga Therapy Certification offers a special path to a career in Yoga Therapy. Our program combines the time-honored heritage of a classical Yoga lineage with practices adapted for contemporary times. Drawing from the roots of classical teachings, our therapists receive a balanced and thorough training exemplifying the essence of Yoga, while providing applicable skills for modern-day implementation.

The flexibility and adaptability of our modular 800-hour program allows students to work at their own pace and smoothly integrate the training into their current life. With three locations across the country offering courses and a personal mentor guiding the process, students are assured options and support during the program.

Previous Education

If you have already taken one of the core modules in the IYTh Program, you can apply for a Previous Education Credit to have that training applied toward your certification. The instructor and syllabus must be the same, and you must have successfully completed the course within five years prior to enrollment in the IYTh Program.

What is a Home Center?

Your “Home Center” is where you work with your Mentor and local Center Manager on administrative items and program tasks. Depending on where you live, you can choose your “Home Center” from Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco, Integral Yoga Institute of New York, or Satchidananda Ashram–-Yogaville (Charlottesville, Virginia).

What is the Practicum?

Students have the opportunity to offer Yoga therapy services to individuals and small groups while receiving feedback from peers and an IYTh Mentor. Your Home Center collaboratively pairs you with an ideal Mentor who is a C-IAYT Yoga Therapist in the Integral Yoga tradition.

What is a Peer Cohort?

Peer Cohorts are groups of students in the IYTh track, formed to create a structure of support and inspiration through the training. Peer Cohorts meet monthly, providing an opportunity for students to share their studies and work together on practical applications of Yoga therapy. IYTh faculty schedules general focus themes related to training and practicum issues.

What happens after I graduate?

Upon successfully completing the 800-hr program, you are eligible to apply through the International Association of Yoga Therapist to receive C-IAYT credentialing. If a graduate of the 800-hour Program wishes to become a certified Integral Yoga Therapist and receive the IYTh credential, they must complete one Elective in a specialty area of their choosing from a selected list of approved training.
