Yoga Sutras on the Mat: Apply Ancient Wisdom to Your Physical Practice with Tim Groen, RYT 500

Make your Hatha practice a more inward-turning and satisfying activity. Enjoy a beautiful and detailed Hatha Yoga class, and learn how to combine your Yoga practice with the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras, one of the oldest Yoga scriptures. Learn how to slow down to explore what your body-mind is feeling, keeping your practice interesting and challenging. For example, we will practice the yama and niyama by applying “contentment” and “harmlessness” and ease into postures with Pratipaksha Bhavana, letting go of any hindering thoughts of self-judgment. All these techniques were handed down to us thousands of years ago by the Yoga sage Patanjali and represent the truest practice of Yoga. This workshop concludes with Yoga Nidra, or deep relaxation, and a mantra meditation on the Sutras. Experienced beginners and Intermediate/Advanced Students



Tim Groen, RYT 500, is a certified Integral Yoga instructor and certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Born in Amsterdam, he is now a New Yorker who received his first Yoga teacher certification in India, where he loves to spend as much time as he can. Tim has taught in the United States, Amsterdam, and India; his classes and workshops reflect his training in both vinyasa and classical Yoga styles.
