Raja Yoga

Raja Yoga Teacher Training

February 21–March 3 and August 15–25, 2019
Taught by Swami Ramananada, Swami Divyananda, Kali Morse

Raja Yoga is the classical foundation of Yoga, the branch that addresses emotions, intellect, and interpersonal relations. It is the basis of Yoga therapy and a key to finding inner freedom.

This training will give you a deep and broad understanding of the entire science of Yoga. Studying Raja Yoga with senior monks and teachers who received these teachings directly from Sri Swami Satchidananda can be a life-changing experience.

Yoga teachers will learn how to better integrate the teachings of Yoga into their Yoga classes, and teach Yoga in the context of its ultimate goal — a heart at peace and a life full of joy.

Why become certified in Raja Yoga?
You will learn the science of self-mastery and discover the modern applications of classical Ashtanga Yoga, the eight-limbed path from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These practical tools for self-transformation lead you to higher consciousness.

The curriculum includes:

  • In-depth review of key Yoga Sutras
  • Instructions of how to incorporate those teachings into daily life
  • Coaching in public speaking; including preparation, structure, delivery, and adding color to your talks; also, using Yoga to lessen presentation anxiety
  • Training in answering questions, leading discussions, and developing group rapport
  • A syllabus for teaching a six-week Raja Yoga course

What can you do with it?
Yoga teachers will find your teaching and credentials strengthened and enhanced. You will:

  • Measure up to the current national and international standards for a fully trained Yoga teacher through the study and practice of Raja Yoga.
  • Have the qualifications to teach at regional and national conferences and in a wide range of spiritual and secular settings.
  • Have insights that can help in counseling your Hatha Yoga students, whose practice may open them to a deeper exploration of Yoga.
  • Understand the use of pranayama, meditation, and the mind‒body connection for therapeutic settings.

This training is open to:

  • Certified 200-hour Yoga teachers of all traditions with experience in meditation

Prerequisites:

  • Some general knowledge of the Yoga Sutras
  • Required advance reading and viewing of assigned videos

Credentialing
For Integral Yoga teachers, Raja Yoga is one of two options for required teacher trainings to take you to the Yoga Alliance 500-hour designation.

For all certified Yoga teachers, some hours of Yoga philosophy are required for all Yoga Alliance TTs. Because many schools are strong on Hatha and short on philosophy, Integral Yoga Raja Yoga instructors have been hired to teach philosophy in other schools’ 200- and 500-hour Teacher Trainings. Here is your chance to study with one of the most respected courses in yoga education.
