After a 20 year career in financial services as a stay at home mom, the study of yoga became fascinating. With a daily practice, I completed a certification to teach in 2002 and began offering yoga classes in Staten Island, NY for adults and girl scouts. In 2007 a colleague and I created a Yoga Alliance school, “Professional Teachers’ School of Yoga” designed to qualify NYCDOE Physical Education teachers to teach yoga in their schools. In 2009, opening the center, Time for Yoga presented an opportunity to meet many wonderful people and host events to support our community. After the business folded in 2013, I began offering classes at other venues. At this juncture, obtaining an MAT from SUNY Empire State College enabled me to teach mathematics, physical education, and health/yoga to students of the NYC Department of Education.
Daily habits of yoga, exercise, rest, and healthy eating prove to enhance the aging process on so many levels. Spending time with others and in nature through jogging, hiking, biking, or in stillness is extremely inspiring. I am grateful for my family, friends, and teachers who support my journey. My intention is to encourage others in the development of personal practices that alleviate stress in order to promote an easeful body. a peaceful mind, and the sustainance of the precious energy.
