    *Masako Miyakawa
    E-RYT 500

Originally from Japan, Masako has been practicing yoga since 2001 and teaching since completing her first of many yoga teacher trainings at IYINY in 2004. Her teaching infuses light heartedness, attention to details and care for each and every student’s wellbeing. She loves the mindful flow, yin, restorative, chair yoga, pranayama and meditation. When Masako is not teaching she is usually found in a plant-filled home with Nagi, a rescued cat, or walking in the woods next door, hanging out with woodpeckers, red cardinals, blue jays and squirrels at beautiful Inwood Hill Park in Northern Manhattan.

Sound Healer, Reiki Practioner, RYT 200

Meet Luma, a Washington Heights native, certified 200hr Yoga Teacher, Sound Healing Practitioner, and Reiki Master, who combines healing modalities to create sacred spaces that help us reconnect mind and body. Her journey began in 2016 when she was experiencing trouble breathing and doctors could not explain the source of her problem. In exploring a myriad of meditative tools and practices, Luma discovered that sound therapy and yoga allowed her to calm her anxiety and balance out the energies between her environment, inner thoughts, and somatic sensations. Since then she has been helping others to explore their inner workings, often collaborating with wellness studios, practitioners, and mentors for community events, workshops, and online support.

Program Description

In this special workshop, you’ll be practicing yin yoga to help release tensions and stresses in your body while being enveloped and immersed in the sound of 7 Chakra Crystal Singing Bowls. Yin yoga works on your tighter, contracting and knotted connective tissues around the hips, lower back and shoulders while the Sound Bath, also known as Sound Healing, works to promote deeper relaxation by your brain waves becoming attuned to the frequencies of the instruments.

Combined Benefits of Yin Yoga + Sound Healing:
– Significant reduction in stress and anxiety.
– Helps to release tightness/knots in your body especially around neck, shoulders, lower back and hips.
– Helps to lower blood pressure and anger.
– Cleanse and balance Chakras, energy centers in the body.
– Stimulate Meridians, energetic pathways in the body.
– Increase in mental and emotional clarity.
