Program Description
Join us for a special Kirtan service in celebration of the anniversary of the birth of Swamini Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda. Led by Alice’s daughter, Sita Michelle, let us come together, in thankfulness, as we honor Swamini’s extraordinary life and being.
In the 1970’s, Alice Turiya Coltrane became a student of Swami Satchidananda. It proved to be a life altering educational experience and Alice became immersed in devotion and elevation for the rest of her years on earth. Her music and teaching, which we will hear in this special service celebrating her birthday, reflect her lifelong study, and incorporate the many threads of her musical and devotional life which began with her playing in the Baptist church in Detroit as a young girl.
Together we will honor the legacy of musicianship and devotion to god consciousness in these times when our world so needs to hear and be inspired by her dedication to humanity.
