“Whatever divine form a person seeks to worship with faith, I steady their faith in that form.” —Bhagavad Gita 7.21
In many religions, we can approach God not only as the divine father but also as the Divine Mother. From Shakti to Kwan Yin, and Mother Mary to Shekhinah, many great traditions offer us a path to worshiping God in the Feminine form.
In this series, we will learn about the different forms of the Divine mother in the Yogic tradition. We will study the adventures of the Divine Goddess as described in the great scripture the Devi Mahatmyam, which also reveals the hidden secrets of spiritual growth. We will learn how to invoke the love, power, wisdom, and protection of God the Mother through special mantras, prayers and chants, and invoke the power of the Divine Goddess to help us with any and all aspects of our lives. The focus will be on supporting each other as we seek to apply in our lives the great teachings about the Divine Mother.
The version of the Devi Mahatmyam that we will be referencing can be found in the book Chandi Path, by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
