Itinerary

Meals Included: Breakfast (B), Lunch (L), Dinner (D). If not indicated, you will be responsible for providing your own meal on that day. Drinks are not included.

Day 1 – Sept. 2
Arrival in Cairo. Greet and assist at Cairo Airport and transfer to the hotel. Evening gathering and tour orientations.

Day 2 – Sept. 3
Morning meditation. Visit The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and Egyptian Museum. In the evening stroll through the historic Al-Muizz Street. (B, L)

Day 3 – Sept. 4
Visit the Pyramids, a camel ride, and the Sphinx. Entry to the Great Pyramid. Visit Sakkara. Yoga and reflection in the evening. (B, L)

Day 4 – Sept. 5
Fly to Aswan. Visit the unfinished obelisk/Granite Quarries. Visit the Temple of Philae. In the afternoon board the Nile Cruise. Late afternoon enjoy a motorboat/Felucca ride. (B, L, D)

Day 5 – Sept. 6
Sail to Kom Ombo (usually around 7 or 8 am) and visit Kom Ombo. Sail to Edfu and visit Edfu. Sail to Luxor overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Sept. 7
Sail to Luxor – Visit the West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and Memnon). In the evening visit Luxor temple. (B, L, D)

Day 7 – Sept. 8
Disembark Nile Cruise. Drive to Abydos and visit the temple. Drive to Dendara and visit Hathor’s temple. Drive back to Luxor and check in at the hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 8 – Sept. 9
Optional hot air balloon. Visit Karnak temples and fly back to Cairo. Overnight in hotel. Group sharing and closing circle. (B, L, D)

Day 9 – Sept. 10
Checkout of hotel. Transfer to Cairo International Airport for departure. (B)

Passport/Visa Information

Egypt eVisas are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. This means travelers must enter the country within 30 days of receiving their eVisa. If it has expired, a new visa must be obtained online before traveling. Processing is quick, with most applicants receiving their approved eVisa within 7 days. We can assist you with obtaining a Visa on Arrival at Cairo International Airport if needed. Simply let us know in advance, and our team will ensure a smooth and seamless process upon your arrival.

Important Information

  • Motion Sickness: If you are prone to motion sickness, consider bringing medication, especially for Nile Cruise or motorboat/Felucca ride.
  • Claustrophobia Consideration: If you experience claustrophobia and prefer not to enter the Great Pyramid, please inform us in advance so we can make alternative arrangements for you during that portion of the tour.
  • Early Arrival or Late Departure: If you plan to arrive in Egypt before the tour begins or extend your stay after the retreat, please let us know ahead of time. We are happy to arrange meet and greet services at the airport, additional hotel accommodations, and airport transportation as needed.
  • Flights: International flights to and from Egypt are not included in the package. Participants are responsible for arranging their own airfare.
  • Suggested Tipping: To ensure a seamless experience, we recommend a tip of $150 per person. This will cover gratuities for guides, drivers, security personnel, transfer staff, Nile Cruise staff, and luggage porters. We will collect this amount on the first day to distribute appropriately throughout the journey.
  • Clothing and Essentials:
    • Wear comfortable, modest clothing suitable for warm weather.
    • Bring comfortable walking shoes or hiking shoes, especially for the Mount Sinai climb.
    • Pack an extra jacket or sweater for colder evenings.
    • Don’t forget a hat for sun protection and sunscreen to guard against the desert sun.
  • Integral Yoga Lifestyle: Participants on this Integral Yoga tour are expected to follow a vegetarian diet. Alcohol, smoking, or recreational drugs are not permitted.

Swami Asokananda, a monk since 1973, is one of Integral Yoga’s foremost teachers, known for his warmth, intelligence, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience, since he has absorbed the wisdom of his guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda, since the age of 19. Ishwara Ehab Aref is an Egyptian-American Integral Yoga practitioner and traveler. Born in Cairo, he spent 16 years as a professional dancer at the Cairo Opera House before moving to the U.S. in his 20s to further pursue dance. His journey with Integral Yoga began in 2006 when a meditation workshop at the Integral Yoga Institute New York deeply transformed his life. In 2019, he became a certified Integral Yoga teacher at Yogaville and traveled to India on a spiritual tour, immersing himself in Yoga’s roots.
