Our Certified Yoga Therapists

All our Yoga therapists are certified by the profession’s international governing organization, the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Every practitioner’s certification is in active status, with qualifications that meet the association’s stringent requirements for training and practical experience, including studies in anatomy and physiology, meditation and stress reduction, Yoga philosophy, and the safe adaptation of Yoga practices to particular health conditions and challenges.

Our Yoga therapists often work in hospitals and medical clinics, as well as collaborate with medical professionals in various fields. Many have chosen to specialize in particular areas, such as therapeutic approaches to cancer, heart disease, arthritis, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, prenatal and postpartum complications, depression and anxiety, and PTSD, to name a few.

FAQ

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.

— Definition of Yoga Therapy from the International Association of Yoga Therapists, www.iayt.org

Integral Yoga Therapy Services provide customized private Yoga sessions to support our clients with challenges at every stage of life on their path toward inner peace and personal healing. Certified Yoga therapists use a combination of Yogic techniques to guide the client through an individualized practice that promotes wellness for body and mind. Sessions may include physical poses, breathing practices, meditation, guided relaxation, Yoga philosophy, and stress-reduction techniques, all adapted to suit the client’s condition and goals.

What is the difference between Yoga Therapy and regular Yoga?

Yoga Therapy is specifically designed to address your health conditions and challenges. Regular Yoga can also be therapeutic but does not necessarily seek to tailor a practice for you. A Yoga Therapy session, one-on-one or in a small group, can focus on specific concerns with the intention of bringing ease, relief, and enhanced healing. Yoga Therapy can be used to achieve whatever goals the client and therapist set forth that work toward a state of well-being.

How many sessions will I need?

Each body is unique, and every case is different. Most clients will experience some benefit after just one session. Depending on your individual needs and concerns, more sessions may be necessary or desirable. Integral Yoga’s certified Yoga therapists will work with you to design a plan that is the best suited to meet your goals.

What if I can’t afford this service?

We understand that the cost of private Yoga Therapy may be prohibitive for some. In an effort to make our services available to everyone, Integral Yoga Institute offers Therapeutic Yoga classes taught by our certified Yoga therapists on a regular basis. These classes are outlined in our Program Guide. We also offer a 10 percent discount on private sessions for seniors and veterans. Please be sure to request this discount when scheduling your appointment.

Where do sessions take place?

Our certified Yoga therapists are available to meet with you at Integral Yoga Institute or in your own home. Sessions at the Institute will be provided in a private room fully equipped with all the props necessary to support your practice.
